Working in a Series at the Bristol Art Museum, Bristol RI

Create a Cohesive Body of Work for Show or Exploration

As a teacher I find one of the biggest dilemmas that artists face is staying focused and creating a cohesive body of work. In this class we will explore the importance of PREPARATION. We will choose subjects and mediums that inspire us. We will create timelines to keep us on track and set realistic goals for ourselves.

This is a 2 part workshop

Wednesday July 31st- PART 1Getting Started 9am-12pm, lunch, 1-3pm

Students should bring at least 4 objects that inspire them. This could be Photos, still life objects, paintings) Think outside the box. What do you really want to paint?

We will discuss the materials on hand and spend the morning creating an outline for our Project: timeline, subject matter, medium, painting surfaces, end goal

We will spend the afternoon creating painting studies to use as guides for our larger finished pieces. Composition and Color Harmony will be addressed.  Students should bring their usual materials.
